K12
LAB SCHOOL
EMO/ARCHITECTS, INC., provided Architectural Services for the 2,400 GSF Media Center Addition for the Florida A & M University Developmental Lab School. The existing K-12 facility was built in the 1950's and the media center was inadequate by today’s standards. The new addition doubled the size of the school Media Center and provided twenty computer stations for student use. The new addition also provided accessible restroom facilities, sound room and storage rooms. The building design allowed north facing clerestory windows and store front glazing at the south elevation for natural light. The project was designed on an accelerated schedule to allow construction to begin once school was out for summer. EMO/ARCHITECTS, INC. staff worked closely with the General Contractor to provide a cost efficient design with “off the shelf” materials which met the architectural space program, budget, schedule and existing condition parameters.
